Puakenikeni Car Lei, Car Charm, Rearview Mirror Accessory, Forever Lei

Take your love of Hawaii with you everywhere you drive.  These Puakenikeni Lei’s are the perfect size for your rearview mirror and are adjustable to fit your vehicle.  Each lei is handmade in the Big Island and is strung with 40 iliahi (sandalwood) beads, 5 clay Puakenikeni flowers, and 2 lava beads on white polyester ribbon.  Since the beads are sandalwood, you can rub your favorite essential oils on them for a wonderful aroma throughout your vehicle.  Each lei is handcrafted, therefore variations will be unique and slightly different.

The flower’s history:
The Puakenikeni flower is often used to make lei in Hawaii.  It’s know for its abundance of flowers and beautiful aroma in the islands.  The color of the flowers can go from a creamy white in the morning, a golden yellow mid day, and orange in the afternoon.  It’s said that the Puakenikeni flower arrived in Hawai’i around the late 1800s and grew in popularity a few decades later in the 1920s. Puakenikeni is not indigenous to Hawai’i, but it is indigenous to Northern Australia and the Caroline islands, and quickly became a popular flower across the entire Pacific!
